Youth at SAPLC

At SAPLC, we are about creating community and exploring faith at all ages.  Rooted in our Lutheran faith, we engage youth through learning, service, and fellowship opportunities so that they may know the love of God and feel equipped and empowered to share that love with others.

Generations Program (7th-9th)

For any new parents of youth who are interested, please reach out to Pastor Daniel at daniel@saplc.org.

We begin our 2026-2027 year on Wednesday, September 16th at 6:30pm on the Luther Seminary lawn (weather dependent), just outside our Luther Place entrance.

Youth  between 7th - 9th grades are welcome to enter the three year program at any time, with one parent or adult sponsor also committing to the program.

Please join us!

Goal and Focus: To model and encourage curious disciples of Jesus who know the faith, practice the faith, and live by the grace of God as the Holy Spirit impacts the world through us.

Based in deep relationships with their parents, mentors, and peers, our confirmation students focus less on data and more on discipleship. Parents are empowered to make their (and their child’s) faith relevant, life-giving, and challenging. The Generations pedagogy is not based on memorization or traditional confirmation philosophy (although traditional Lutheran confirmation topics are honored and explored). Generations is, instead, a relational pedagogy. The educational key is the parent (or adult sponsor) / child relationship.

As your child’s primary role model this course considers your relationship to Jesus and the Christian faith as central. Parents and adult sponsors are encouraged to respond critically to their relationship with God, modeling an authentic faith their child will see and feel. Confirmation ('Affirmation of Baptism’) at the end of the three-year session is a choice, but all participants will be celebrated. In addition, every adult participant is invited to affirm their own baptism after the third year. This is a one-to-three year program, depending on a student’s age at the beginning of their entrance, and considering what is the best time to enter/exit the course.
