Confirmation (a.k.a. Affirmation of Baptism) at SAPLC surrounds young people with lots of caring adults who share the Gospel of Jesus with them and support them in their life of faith. The program is packed with study, relationship, and community.

Each student is assigned a 'confirmation sponsor,' who prays for the student, worships with the student, does service projects with the student, attends class with the student 2x a year, and meets with the student through the entire 2+ year program.
7th and 8th grade students receive Wednesday evening instruction in Bible for one year and Luther's Small Catechism for one year.
7th and 8th graders meet in class Wednesday evenings through the school year from 7:00-8:15pm.
7th and 8th graders are assigned "Home Improvement" each week: short assignments on the material covered in class which aim to get faith where it matters most: in all of life from Monday to Saturday. Parents almost always have a role in the Home Improvement.
Parents attend class a few times a year, either Wednesday evenings or Sunday mornings.
7th and 8th graders attend 2 retreats each year - one in the spring and one in the fall. Retreats are 24 hours long, overnight at a retreat center in Wisconsin. Retreats are fantastic!
Students are expected to attend Luther Point Bible Camp one week in the summer at least once during their confirmation years. Confirmation Camp is fabulous!
9th graders attend class with Pastor Berg-Moberg in the fall until the end of October and spend time writing 'faith statements.'
9th graders have a short retreat in the fall to prepare the final touches of their faith statements.
9th graders read their faith statements over dinner before the Rite of Confirmation (a.k.a. Affirmation of Baptism) in the fall. Everyone is invited. Most often, baptismal sponsors, confirmation sponsors, and family attend.
The Rite of Confirmation (a.k.a. Affirmation of Baptism) happens at the end of October or beginning of November each year. Confirmands take leading roles in the worship service, serving communion, reading Scripture, and affirming the promises God made to them in baptism.
Confirmation is NOT graduation at SAPLC. Students are surrounded by God's Word of love in Christ, and we want them to know that Word doesn't stop speaking to them in 9th grade! They are supported and encouraged by the whole congregation as it points them to the abundant life Jesus offers.
