Usher Guide (Long Configuration)

Usher Guide for Communion in the Long Configuration

  1. Two ushers will remain at the front of the sanctuary, guiding communicants to the table and reminding them to take cups from the tray at the head of the center aisle.
    • A. People seated on the right will leave their rows by the center aisle and fill in the table, beginning at the center and filling in toward the far end. They will return to their rows by way of the side aisle (narthex).
    • B. People seated on the left will leave their rows by the center aisle and fill in the table, beginning at the center and filling in toward the far end. They will return to their rows by way of the side aisle (Luther Place).
    • C. Servers will begin serving at the center and move toward the far end. As spaces are available, ushers should direct communicants to the table.

  2. Two ushers will move back through the center aisle, directing communicants to the table. Try to avoid having people wait in line but keep the lines moving steadily.

  3. Ushers should join the last table of communicants.

  4. Alert the pastor if there are communicants with special needs.

  5. Communion cards should be put in the pastor's study after the service.
