Tribe Leader Functions

Tribe Leader Functions

  1. At least three weeks before your tribe month, discover when people are not available to work and to accept an invitation to your house. This can be done by telephone* and/or with a memo which also invites them to your house to get acquainted and to talk over the schedule. If you put the memo in the Communicator boxes on colored paper, you'll be able to identify them quickly after the second service, remove those which are left, and mail them.
  2. Schedule a barbecue, lunch, brunch or dessert in your home before your month. Sunday noon seems to work the best.
  3. Draft a schedule and check with people to ascertain that the schedule is okay.
  4. Hand out final schedule when everyone is at your home. (Highlight their names on the schedule.) Give them list(s) of their responsibilities.
  5. Ask the tribe members to work out trades with each other. (Give everyone a list of tribe members with their telephone numbers.)
  6. Get final schedule to church office by Wednesday for inclusion in the bulletin.
  7. Distribute descriptions of activities for tribe members as appropriate. (Mail to absent members.)
  8. Plan to attend the first service each Sunday and stay until beginning of second service. (If unable to do this, find someone in your tribe who can.)
  9. Arrive 15-20 minutes before the service to make sure everyone has arrived. Check to see if everyone knows what they are to do.
  10. The week-end janitor turns on lights, fans, and the loud-speakers.
  11. If people do not show, recruit from the congregation - or do it yourself.
*Someone once said that smiling while talking on the telephone changes how a person sounds. It works!
