Coffee Organizer

Sometime before your Sunday to serve coffee, check the notebook next to the refrigerator in the church kitchen to determine how much coffee to make and how many people will be served. Note special days such as Rally Day and Easter Sunday when more people than usual attend.

      1. Make arrangements with the other coffee servers for your Sunday to determine how you all will provide:
      a. a centerpiece(s) for the serving table(s)
      b. cream for coffee (coffee, tea and sugar in the kitchen)
      c. tablecloth(s) unless you wish to use what is available in the cupboards in the kitchen annex. You should find two burgundy and two green cloths in the wedding cabinet. The key is in the drawer to the right of the annex sink
      d. paper napkins
      e. food/drinks, e.g. lemonade for a hot summer day. If your tribe chooses to purchase cookies from Best Maid, your tribe leader will have the information. Cookies are stored in the chest freezer in the kitchen.

NOTE: YOU DO NOT NEED TO PROVIDE COFFEE OR TEA. YOU WILL FIND BOTH REGULAR AND DECAF COFFEE AND TEA IN THE CABINET NEXT TO THE SERVING WINDOW. IF YOU NEED MORE COFFEE, YOU WILL FIND THE KEY TO THE BACK HALL CABINET (WITH WHITE CIRCLE) IN THE DRAWER TO THE RIGHT OF THE SINK IN THE KITCHEN ANNEX. REMOVE ONLY AS MUCH COFFEE AS YOU NEED THAT DAY, NOTE REMOVAL OF BAGS ON THE BOX OF COFFEE, RELOCK THE CABINET, AND RETURN THE KEY TO THE DRAWER.

      2. On the appointed Sunday, arrive early enough (@ 8:00 a.m.) to see that the switches numbered 2, 6, 10, 21, and 23 in the circuit breaker box on the wall in the kitchen annex above the wastebasket are on. Ordinarily the custodian will do this. Then prepare regular and decaf coffee and tea. Use the NEW coffee maker in the kitchen annex. The instructions are by the unit.

      3. In the narthex, fill the coffee cups either directly from the NEW coffee maker removable units (set on their warming plates) or from small thermal pots. Do not fill cups in advance in order to avoid serving cold coffee.

      4. You do not need to provide snacks and beverage for children in the kitchen. Children will be served with adults in the narthex.

      5. Wash dishes in the dishwasher when finished:
      a. turn off power switches #2, 6, 10, 21, and 23 on the wall in the kitchen annex above the wastebasket
      b. turn off dishwasher (instructions on the wall)

      6. Record numbers for your Sunday in the notebook next to the fridge.

      7. Check and clean the insides of drawers and the counters.

      8. Take home dishtowels, etc. and launder. If you use church tablecloths, take them home to wash and be sure to treat any stains carefully. Return them to the church immediately so they can be used the next week. Do not use the SAPLC-embroidered tablecloths for Sundays; they are stored in the church office and are used for special occasion rather than Sunday coffee hours.
